Excellent book with photographs of all different aspects of Mexico. The writing is very compact and full of quotes from interviews, magazines, books and other sources, and that makes the book difficult to read. Because of the personal nature of this book, those who choose to read it and be convicted by it do so at their personal choice to be convicted.
We are given a view of the family dynamic of the ancient world as well. I also found it very distracting when Halpern decided to segue into Greensleeves at one point. It appears that the final chapters that were present in the second edition, and did not make it into this massive 1100 pages (excluding the appendices) tome, will remain frozen in the second edition.
