In this book, the author takes the reader on a systematic voyage through the complex world of Alternative Medicine. He describes the details of many popular hoaxes and frauds connected to the uses of recommended products and he cuts to the very heart of health care. Dr. Bartecchi makes an obvious point: if it could be proved or confirmed, if a product has passed the clinical trials needed to show that it truly worked, nobody would apply the word alternative to it.
Dr. Bartecchi is Clinical Professor of Medicine, at the University of Colorado Medical School and he is also an Internal Medicine Specialist, in private practice in Pueblo, Colorado
This is a reprint. To a degree this is a coming of age story too, but it is equally if not mostly a story of friendship and romance between Adam and Ryan who meet in high school and the story takes place during next five years of their lives, although at some point the narrative jumps two years ahead in time.
The romance was a bit unusual for me – not because there was not many sex scenes and none very explicit s – if you read my reviews before you may know that more often than not I prefer romances with less explicit sex rather than more. An era is passing into history, and Ferber tells that story with immediacy that makes it fresh reading although this book was first published in 1926. Braverman's 1974 book was prophetic in that it described longstanding capitalist relationships that, applied vigorously since that time, have led to increasing income inequality in America..
