With the new year underway, this book will inspire all those with resolutions to keep healthy and fit.
Unfortunately, I think the effort falls far short of what it could have been.
Davies puts together a pricey 204 page softcover book that seems to have only slightly more detail about many films than I have seen in DVD catalogues. The topics are more logically laid out and real world top-notch examples ("Designs by the Masters") are used to drive home key concepts in electronic design. It shows the effects of the development of capitalism on the nature of work (the labour process) and on the composition of the working class since Marx's time.
Braverman shows how several factors combine to make the labour process an alienating one under capitalism: capitalist management and control; the way the capitalists use new technology; the division of labour; and the separation of the "conception" or planning side of work from its "execution". This author is on point and I must say this is an incredible read and an absolute steal for $3. Fantastic experiences and very helpful
